Upper Nithsdale Events was created by and is managed and run by members of this community who represent a number of leading local organisations and bring with them a wealth of local and business knowledge.

Upper Nithsdale Events is engaged in promoting and marketing Upper Nithsdale through a series of publications, leaflets, services, events and by the coordinated marketing of all our existing attractions and community activities.

Our Aims & Objectives

The aims of Upper Nithsdale Events are to:

Effectively market Upper Nithsdale in order to increase visitor numbers and give local businesses the economic boost they require to create sustainable employment.

The development and promotion of projects which maintain and enhance that natural and cultural heritage of the area and encourage community volunteering, participation and social inclusion.

Upper Nithsdale Events group has successfully attracted funding from the following sources:

Community Regeneration Fund (D & G Community Planning Partners)

Upper Nithsdale Events pledge to:

Encourage people to visit the area by providing suitable entertainment and events. The Group will organise a wide selection of events each year, while creating positive coverage for all events in Upper Nithsdale using local, regional and national media as appropriate.

Increase visitor numbers to Upper Nithsdale. The group aim to attract increasing numbers of visitors to the area for holidays and to events.

Market the unique selling points of Upper Nithsdale. We have a number of brochures and information designed specifically to promote our area, its accommodation providers, facilities and services.

Increase community participation in the activities of Upper Nithsdale Events by actively identifying, inviting and encouraging local community groups to take advantage of the groups services and by encouraging increased volunteering in the groups work and events.

Work in partnership with both Statutory and Voluntary groups. In addition to the partnerships made and strengthened with local voluntary organisations, upper Nithsdale Events will work in partnership with regional statutory agencies to ensure no duplication of work.
