    Main day Saturday 15th August 2009, Ride the Marches over 100 horses, Coronation of Sanquhar Queen, Cornets report, parade of decorated floats, horses, bands, John Evans strong man display, Falcon display, massed bands at 5.15pm, torchlight procession at 9.30pm.

    The annual Flower & Vegatable & Handicrafts Show is on Saturday 29th August 2009 in the Community Centre, Station Road, Sanquhar

    It is the premier show in Nithsdale

  • Classic and Vintage Vehicle Show 2009, 6th September
    Upper Nithsdale's Annual Classic & Vintage Vehicle Show. A great day out for the family.
    Free entry. Plenty of parking.


    Sunday - Classic & Vintage Vehicle Procession round Kirkconnel, Kelloholm and Sanquhar. Display of all vehicles on Queensberry Square. Refreshment stands, Autojumble and selection of stalls.

    Individuals or Clubs interested in exhibiting their vehicles should contact us for entry forms and full details. small buffet reception for entrants.

  • Christmas Fair 2009, 29th November
    Date for this very popular event is Sunday 29h November 2009 in the Town Hall from noon

    This event has all the table crafts avaible to purchase, from wooden toys, ornaments to paintings and local photographs, knitting, food and many more crafts, teas also available

  • Join us for Sanquhar's Christmas Lights switch on 2009, 5th December
    Saturday 5th December 2009 Sanquhar will switch on Christmas lights at 4.30pm in middle car park in the town centre, events include:

    * Childrens entertainment at Primary School at 1.00pm
    * Pipe band entertain from 2.30pm in middle car park
    * Silver band
    * Samba band
    * Pipe band



  • Royal Air Force Wild Water Racing Canoe Championship 11-13 th December 2009, 11th - 13th December
    The Royal Air Force descend upon Sanquhar and the river Nith for some Wild water racing canoeing.
    Practice sessions from Monday 7th December
    Wild Water Racing at its best with over 60 paddlers

  • Riding of the Marches 1910 - 2010, 100 year celebration, 13th - 23rd August
    Start Friday 13th August 2010
    End on Monday 23rd August 2010

    Major celebration for Riding of the Marches big 100

    Wednesday 18th is the actual birthday celebrations

    Saturday 21st big day of events, coronation of Sanquhar Queen, massed bands and loads more

    Monday 23rd is ride round the Burgh with Sanquhar sashes and an open top bus for the non riders with sashes, this is not to be missed

    This is a major event in the history of our Royal Burgh, we will have a full programme of events from March through to October, look out for a new commissioned horse sculture by Rachel McWilliam,
    100 trees to plant on Mathews Folley part of Southern Upland Way

    2010 will be part of the history of our Royal and Ancient Burgh
